The idea behind THINK INC-lusion
The THINK INC team believes that inclusive education should allow full access to equal educational opportunity. It should be an empowering process for all involved and should be seen to celebrate pupils' differences as an enriching experience. It should offer a barrier-free learning environment in which structures and systems should be flexible in meeting the needs of all pupils.
It is recognised that inclusive education is a process involving changes, not only in policy and the way schools are organised and funded but also in challenging peoples' attitudes and ways of thinking in terms of the education process. Therefore, in order to make it a positive experience for all, it is important to promote a collaborative partnership with schools, parents/carers and other agencies to ensure shared understanding, goals and outcomes.
