Skills Packs
A half-day course exploring the skills required to be included fully within the school community. Delegates will leave with a skills pack to deliver a specific six-week intervention programme in one of the following areas:
Managing Emotions
The focus of this programme is on developing emotional and social skills which can aid pupils to develop awareness of themselves and others, to manage their own behaviour and emotions more effectively and to be a positive enhancement to learning.
This programme has been designed to be used with pupils in Key Stage 2 but will also support pupils' transition to Year 7.
Pupils who may benefit from this programme may have difficulties ni developing friendships and managing emotions. All pupils will gain from becoming emotionally literate and in developing adequate social skills in order to develop the ability to modify and reflect on their own behaviour.
Play Skills
This pack is designed to aid a targeted intervention to develop the prerequisite skills for positive play. It addresses the necessary communication, interaction and developmental processes needed to enable children to play cooperatively. This intervention programme is not seen as a quick fix to playground problems, but as a framework to help resolve 'play' issues.
Friendship Skills
This intervention programme focuses on the development of the initial skills required to foster friendships. It is designed for students in both key stages 2 and 3 who may experience difficulties making and maintaining friendships.
